LONG BEACH – At a party over four years ago, a disagreement arose that ended up as a shooting and murder.
30-year-old Thearath Sam and 33-year-old Sambo Chhoy were attending a party on January 20, 2014 and got into a confrontation. Both men were told to leave, and they did so through a back alley.
Sam followed Chhoy for two blocks and then shot and killed him. He was arrested a month later.
On Friday Sam pleaded guilty to second-degree murder with the special allegation of using a firearm in the murder. He was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
