FREMONT // Police have arrested a 33-year-old Hayward man in connection to a robbery and sexual assault which occurred on the morning of Saturday, February 24th, in Fremont.
That morning, dispatch received a call at around 8:45 AM about a sexual assault and armed robbery at a business on the 39200 block of Fremont Hub. The suspect, armed with a handgun, allegedly went in through an unlocked door and proceeded to rob and sexually assault two adult female employees. He is said to have then fled via the front doors in an unknown direction.
Responding detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and also obtained surveillance video, which showed the suspect loitering at the Fremont Hub Shopping Center since 4 o’clock that morning. Crime Scene Investigators were also able to lift a fingerprint he’d left behind.
It wasn’t long before investigators landed on a person of interest, who was later positively identified in a photo lineup. A warrant was then issued for the arrest of one 33-year-old Terrell Edward Gomer.
Just before 3 AM on Sunday, dispatch received another loitering report — this time from a gas station on the 40500 block of Grimmer Boulevard. The caller said the person in question had been lingering in the store for two hours and was refusing to leave. Two patrol officers, who saw the call holding and noticed that the person’s description matched that of Gomer, self-dispatched to the call. Additional units also responded.
Officers arrived at the scene and located the subject who, indeed, turned out to be Gomer. He was taken into custody just after 3 AM, interviewed, and later booked into the Santa Rita Jail on charges of first degree robbery, first-degree burglary, assault with intent, sexual assault, and kidnapping.
