41-year old Alejandro Carrillo of Delano has been charged with grand theft and being in possession of stolen property. Early on the morning of February 28th, a $60,000 John Deere Tractor was stolen from the shop yard of Lamanuzzi & Pantaleo Farms in Delano. Part of the robbery was caught on the surveillance camera of a neighboring business.
GPS technology helped locate the tractor and led AG Crime Detectives to the block of 10400 Brutton Street in Delano in Kern County. Witness accounts reported an adult male previously seen on the tractor went into a home on the same property where the tractor was located.
An adult female at the home spoke with detectives. She was very cooperative and confirmed the tractor was not on the property hours prior. Detectives were allowed to enter the home where no other adult males were present, except for Carrillo whom detectives identified and arrested as the suspect.
The process of “stripping” the tractor (dissembling to be sold for parts) had already begun. Detectives collected tools which were used in this process as evidence, and they also confiscated a cell phone and a 1999 Chevy truck. It is believed the truck was the vehicle used to drive to the shop to commit the crime. Detectives speculate Carrillo had an accomplice who remains unidentified at this time.
After being processed by the lab unit, the stolen property was returned to the rightful owner. Carrillo awaits arraignment at the Adult Pre-Trial Facility in Visalia.
