BELLFLOWER – Just before 11:00 pm on Monday February 12 someone entered and robbed a business on the 3700 block of W. McFadden.
The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money. Then the suspect struck the victim several times with the gun while also pulling her hair. He also strangled the victim to prevent her from escaping.
The suspect left with cash while the victim sustained “substantial injuries to her face and head.”
The SAPD received numerous tips as to the identity of the robber once the story was publicized. 20-year-old Rafael Rodriguez was arrested at his home, where detectives found evidence that linked him to the robbery.
Rodriguez was charged with robbery, kidnapping for robbery, false imprisonment and assault with a deadly weapon.
