MONROVIA – While in many places across our country it is legal, within lawful parameters, to hunt the deer population, it is not always allowable to do so.
34-year-old Michael Jackson Rodriguez discovered this when he killed a deer with a bow and arrow on September 14 in a Monrovia neighborhood.
He pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor count of possessing wildlife taken unlawfully.
Rodriguez was sentenced to 3 years of probation and 30 days of community service. In addition he had to surrender his hunting license and cannot hunt while on probation.
Rodriguez will also have to pay a $1,000 fee to the Fish and Game Preserve Foundation, and give up his bow, arrows and the remains of the deer he shot.
