LOS ANGELES – The punishment for a 1991 murder was finally determined on Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
On September 29, 1991, firefighters discovered a car in flames near 45th and Flower Streets. Inside the car was the body of 22-year-old Jill Dara Sampson, a student at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise.
Further investigation revealed that the victim had also been raped. DNA from her body tied her to her killer, 48-year-old Ahjeeb Jamal Boyd, who was 20-years-old at the time of the murder.
Boyd was arrested in February 2014 for Sampson’s murder. He has now been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, after being found guilty of one count of first-degree murder with the special allegation of rape.
