HOLLISTER // Police have arrested a 30-year-old man after he led them on a short vehicle pursuit in a car that turned out to be stolen.
Just after 9:30 PM on March 20th, police attempted a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle and were led on a short vehicle pursuit that was ultimately terminated due to the driver’s reckless behavior.
Nonetheless, police found the vehicle in the B Street area a short time later, at which point additional officers were called in to search the area. It wasn’t long before the suspect — later identified as 30-year-old Cesar Montez Gonzalez — was found and, after a short foot pursuit, taken into custody.
Officers soon also learned that he had a large amount of meth on him, the vehicle he was driving was stolen, and he’d hidden a sawed-off rifle inside.
Gonzalez is charged with resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, evading officers, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a short-barreled rifle, possession of stolen property, having a concealed weapon in a vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two warrants.
