Man Charged with Multiple Sex Crimes Being Held for $30 Million Bail

SAN RAMON — The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office on March 23 charged a man with committing lewd and lascivious acts involving children and other sexual offenses at least 20 times.
An investigation was launched on March 16 when the San Ramon Police were alerted about unlawful sexual acts allegedly committed over a period of three years.
San Ramon police officers served search and arrest warrants at a local residence on the following day.
The suspect, Thomas J. Pancoast, was arrested at his home on March 17 without incident. He was taken to the Martinez Detention Facility where he was booked.
Pancoast is charged with 11 counts of committing lewd and lascivious acts on a child under the age of 14. In addition, he’s charged with five counts of committing lewd and lascivious acts on minors between the age of 14 and 15.
Pancoast is also charged with two counts of raping a victim intoxicated on drugs, and two counts of forcible acts of sexual penetration with a foreign object on an intoxicated person.
The suspect also faces numerous charge enhancements related to his alleged crimes. Pancoast is being held in custody at the county jail in lieu of $30 million bond for his release.
