Lakeport man reportedly attacks family members in stabbing incident; 1 dead

LAKEPORT // The Sheriff’s Department is investigating a stabbing incident along Lyons Road that left one person dead and two others severely injured.
On March 29th just after 6:30 AM, Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the 6300 block of Lyons Road to investigate a report that 48-year-old Steven Michael Fredericks had physically attacked family members.
On scene, they discovered a man dead from apparent stab wounds, as well as a woman with lacerations to her neck who had to be transported to Sutter Lakeside Hospital for treatment. Fortunately, her injuries were not life-threatening.
Fredericks, on the other hand, had run into the woods prior to deputies’ arrival and emerged to surrender a short time later. Deputies noted that Fredericks had lacerations to his wrist, for which he, too, was taken to hospital. His injuries were also later determined not to be life-threatening.
The investigation remains active. Major Crimes Unit personnel have secured the scene and do not believe there are any outstanding suspects.
