OCEANO – Early on Friday evening the SLOSD was called to a restaurant parking lot at 649 Pier Avenue concerning a fire occurring from the burning of a Confederate flag.
A customer who was inside the restaurant had parked her pickup truck outside. The flag was attached to her truck.
An unknown individual was observed lighting the corner of the flag, and then leaving the scene. Another customer at the restaurant poured a pitched of water on it to douse the fire.
With a description of the suspect in hand, the SLOSD spotted someone the next day in the same area. 20-year-old Seattle resident Mitchell Davis was arrested for arson, resisting arrest, providing false ID to a peace officer and a civil rights violation.
