Suspect Sought in Montebello Transit Bus Stabbing, Victim in Grave Condition

EAST LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles County Sheriffs Dept Homicide Bureau detectives seek the stabbing suspect who attacked a rider on the Montebello Public Transportation Route 10 bus at 10:13 A.M. without provocation on Monday, April 9, 2018.
While the bus traveled in the 5700 block of Whittier Boulevard, East Los Angeles, a male Hispanic, in his mid-30s to early-40s, standing 6’ tall, weighing 170 to 180 pounds, wearing a blue and orange shirt and green shorts suddenly pulled out a knife and commenced violently stabbing a passenger.
Homicide detectives announced yesterday evening, “The suspect stabbed the victim, a male Hispanic in his mid-20’s, multiple times with a knife in the upper torso. After assaulting the victim, the suspect exited the bus and ran away from the location.”
The critically injured victim was transported to a local hospital. His condition is deteriorating, and is listed in grave condition. Detectives state that the victim is not expected to survive.
The motive for the crime is unknown. There is no additional information available at this time in this ongoing investigation.
Any additional witnesses or patrons who patronized Route 10 of the Montebello Public Transportation system during the time of the incident are asked to come forward with any information they may have about the suspect or the crime.
