SACRAMENTO – When college students go on break they likely look forward to a time of relaxation and diversion. 3 Sac State co-eds returned from their break a while back only to discover that their residence had been robbed.
The police report that they filed included a listing of the items taken, including wakeboards and snowboards.
Imagine their surprise when they later saw some of their items on display for sale on the “Offer Up” website. Rancho Cordova PD detectives paid a visit to the residence connected with the sale, search warrant in hand.
Sure enough, several of the stolen items were in the residence, as was the 47-year-old unnamed suspect, who took detectives to two other places were stolen items were stashed.
A press release reports that “All items stolen in the burglary were eventually recovered and returned to the three victims.”
SAFETY TIP FROM SAC COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT –
“We encourage all of our residents to use caution when making purchases from online sites where ads are posted by private citizens. These sites can be a source of great deals but sometimes the people using them are involved in illegal behavior.
If you choose to make purchases utilizing these sites we ask that you try to conduct these transactions in well lit public places. Our public parking lots at our facilities are a good meeting spot for these types of transactions.
Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
