SACRAMENTO – On Friday morning a 911 call came in from the 7300 block of Gardner Avenue during which the caller reported that he had been stabbed.
Responding deputies found the suspect suffering from non-life threatening wounds. They also had the name of the suspect – 25-year-old Royer Delgado, who had fled.
Not long after, as a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop at Watt and Arden, the driver fled and, after a brief pursuit, the chase was called off for safety reasons.
Minutes later further calls came in concerning an attempted carjacking and an attempted bicycle theft near the 2000 block of Howe Avenue.
The descriptions that witnesses gave led deputies to conclude that Delgado was responsible for these incidents. They also obtained information that led them to a home in the 2000 block of Ernest Way where they thought Delgado was hiding.
Three children were in the home and they were led out through a window. The standoff then lasted an hour, until deputies finally went in and found Delgado hiding in a bedroom.
The suspect was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery and evading law enforcement. His bail was set at $1 million.
