Ventura County – The City of Thousand Oaks, known primarily as an upscale suburban “bedroom community”, continues to attract increasing levels of street gang activity, as evidenced by the arrest of a trio of miscreants early in the morning of April 25th.

According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Greg Gibson, a 911 Emergency call prompted the dispatch of deputies to the 700 block of Moorpark Road where “patrol deputies determined three male suspects challenged a victim to a fight” and shortly thereafter did indeed “batter the victim.”

With the victim’s identification of his assailants in hand, detectives attached to the Thousand Oaks Police Department’s Special Enforcement Unit “assumed the investigation” and soon had search warrants to serve on the residences of 21-year-old Francisco Fernandez, 24-year-old Alain Ceja, and 19-year-old Irvin Arjona, all residents of Thousand Oaks.

Pursuant to the service of those search warrants, detectives found “evidence of the suspects’ gang affiliations” as well as “a short-barreled shotgun and a weapon commonly referred to as ‘metal knuckles’.”

All three suspects were taken into custody and transported to Ventura East County Jail, where they were booked on a plethora of charges that included: Participation in a Criminal Street Gang, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, Disturbing the Peace by Fighting, Battery, Possession of a Short-barreled Shotgun, Possession of Metal Knuckles, Unlawful Transfer of a Firearm, and Criminal Storage of a Firearm. Fernandez and Arjona are currently held on $100,000 bail apiece, while Ceja is held on $210,000 bail.
