VISTA – It turned out to be an expensive tank of gas and drink for 23-year-old Augustine Robinson early Saturday morning.
The suspect was at the Shell gas station at 400 Sycamore Avenue and put an order in for gas. After the clerk informed him that he had to pay first, Robinson said “you should put it on the pump,” with his hand in his pocket as if to imply a gun.
Robinson took a drink from the refrigerator, pumped gas and drove away.
The clerk alerted police, who spotted a vehicle matching the description given them. The car did not stop and instead led police on a 50-minute chase through Sam Marcos, Vista, Escondido and Riverside county.
Robinson stopped at the Pechanga Casino and tried to run inside the casino in an attempt to flee, but he was apprehended at its entrance. He was charged for robbery and felony reckless evading.
