SANTA CRUZ – As a woman walked near Water Street and Knight Streets on Wednesday evening 40-year-old Daisuke Muro grabbed her, pulled her to the ground and tried to take off her pants.
Others nearby heard the woman’s scream and saw what was happening. Concerned bystanders then pulled the woman away from her would-be predator, who ran a bit, stripped naked and began to masturbate.
Muro then charged at an approaching police officer and tried to hit him. The officer subdued the suspect with the help of a witness.
Muro was charged with attempted sexual assault and attacking a police officer.
The victim “suffered abrasions to her arms and legs.”
