SAN JOSE – The San Jose Police Department has announced the arrest of 16 gang members wanted for violent crimes committed by eleven juveniles, and five adults – 19-year-old Alexis Anaya, 18-year-old Jessica Bustos, 18-year-old Diego Diaz, 18-year-old Antonio Gutierrez, and 21-year-old Anwar Mohammad, all residents of San Jose.
The violent gang members are suspected in seven robberies, six carjacking’s, and ten burglaries with multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Multiple weapons charges were also brought against eleven of the 15, 16 and 17-year-old juveniles, who also participated in multiple known attacks throughout the city of San Jose, Sunnyvale, and Mountain View.
According to San Jose Police Officer Gina Tepoorten, “On Thursday, April 26, 2018, the San Jose Police Department’s Robbery Unit, in conjunction with the Gang Investigations Unit, Covert Response Unit, Financial Crimes Unit, Intelligence Unit, Violent Crimes Enforcement Team, MERGE, Metro, Patrol, the Santa Clara County Regional Auto Theft Task Force, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, Mountain View Police Department, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Santa Clara County Juvenile Probation and the District Attorney’s Office Crime Strategies Unit conducted 1 probation search and served 6 search warrants in San Jose.”
The arrests follow the San Jose Robbery Unit’s investigation into the attacks from the summer of 2017 through April 2018.
