Woman Arrested for Elderly Abuse, Threatens Deputies While Being Arrested

40-year old Andrea Bryant of Visalia is facing serious charges after her arrest on Saturday. It was early that morning when Visalia Substation deputies arrived to a home on the 32900 Block on Road 156 in Ivanhoe. Bryant’s father had called 911 to report Bryant was acting violent and was destroying property outside the home in an attempt to get inside.
Bryant had nothing but contempt for the deputies who responded to the call. She refused to comply and upon the first attempt to handcuff her, Bryant became combative, attempting to hit the deputy. She continued to resist but deputies were able to handcuff her and escort her to the patrol vehicle. She did not go quietly, however, threatening to kill the deputies as they walked toward the car.
With Bryant now safely detained, deputies took note of the damage she caused. Besides striking her father in the face and threatening to kill a second elderly person in the home, she had wrecked the mesh screen belonging to the security door and of a window. She had shattered the glass of a window.
The physical damage Bryant caused to the home totaled about $210 but the charges she is facing (elderly abuse, criminal threats, resisting arrests, terrorist threats, and vandalism), will prove much costlier. She was booked into the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department’s Adult Pre-trail Facility.
