AMADOR CITY – On the Sunday afternoon of May 13 an ACSO deputy attempted to do a good deed. As the deputy drove on Highway 49 he came upon a black Dodge pick-up. The vehicle sat stalled, blocking traffic in the roadway.

Nice paint job

An officer performs all sorts of duties that can include helping distressed motorists, and today was no exception.

However,if the driver felt any stress it was surely for a different reason. The officer recognized 30-year-old Darren Randall from previous encounters and consequently “looked him up.”

what’s going on here?

The license plate on the truck did not match. Furthermore, the truck had been stolen from South Lake Tahoe.

Most noteworthy, the black paint on the truck was still wet. Apparently Randall spray painted it hours earlier.

Randall now faces a possession of stolen vehicle charge as he sits in Amador County Jail.

The ACSO adds, “If you’re going to drive a stolen vehicle, expect your ride to not work out so well.”
