SAN JOSE – The SJPD arrested two individuals responsible for the shooting and killing of one victim and the attempted murder of the vicitim’s wife. One of the murderers is the son of the victims.
On the evening of May 20, 2018, officers responded to the 2600 block of Senter Road. The call came in concerning a shooting. 70-year-old Thao Quoc Luu was found non-responsive with bullet wounds. His 68-year-old wife also suffered gunshot wounds and rushed to a local hospital.
At first, speculation arose that this incident may be a husband and wife attempted murder-suicide. Investigators have since ruled that scenario out. This marked the City of San Jose’s 11th homicide of the year.
Homicide investigators began piecing together the scene of the shooting. They soon learned that Madison Muong had shot and killed Thao Luu while attacking the mother of Duong Luu. They believe that an argument escalated out of control. As a result, both 25-year-old Duong Luu and 27-year-old Madison Muong had shot and killed Luu’s father and attempted to kill Luu’s mother.
Tepoorten said, “On May 22, 2018, the San Jose Police Department’s Covert Response Unit arrested the suspects at their residence in San Jose. The suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Jail for one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.”
