LINCOLN – He sat in a courtroom for an unrelated matter. His brother sat in Placer County Jail on child molestation charges. Then it all went south for the volleyball-coaching brothers with the addition of new charges.
Authorities introduced new charges on Wednesday May 16 against Jason and Robert Cole, both 41. The brothers coached youth volleyball in Placer County for several years. The new charges involve suspicion of lewd acts on a 14 or 15 year old.
Robert Cole already faced charges on April 19 of a sexual assault on a child under 10 years of age. He is the brother who was already in custody.
Jason Cole was out on bail from an April 2017 charge of sex with a victim under 18 years old. He is the brother who was in court and rearrested.
At this point, “multiple victims” brought charges against both.
The SacBee reports, “Jason coached varsity or club volleyball programs in Turlock, Colfax and Roseville. After graduating from Placer High School and American River College, he was the top assistant for the Dominican University women’s team. Robert also attended Placer High School and was briefly hired as the Davis High School boys coach in February 2014. The offer was rescinded six hours later, the Davis Enterprise reported.”
Robert Cole’s bail is now at $6.3 million. Jason’s bail is $150,000.
