Ventura County – On the morning of May 18th the VCSD arrested a female drug trafficker after a three month-long investigation.
Ventura County Sheriff’s Department’s West County Narcotics Team includes personnel from the Oxnard Police Department, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, and the Port Hueneme PD. That sort of teamwork seems to work very well, as the Team has scored again.
The Search
According to VCSD spokesman Sgt. Guy Moody, 47-year-old Theresa Edwards was under suspicion for dealing methamphetamine and heroin. Detectives and the California National Guard’s Counter Drug Task Force therefore served a search warrant at Edwards’ residence.
The Discovery
That search, as well as a search of her vehicle, lead to the discovery of evidence of illicit drug sales. As a result, Detectives found “one pound of heroin and 12 ounces of methamphetamine packaged for sale”. They also found a loaded hand gun and “a large sum of U.S. currency” indicating an ongoing narcotic sales operation.
The Charges
During the course of the search, deputies “detained (Edwards) at the residence” along with an unnamed male. The male remains under investigation. At Ventura County jail authorities booked Edwards on multiple narcotic and weapons violations. She remains in custody with her bail set at $250,000.
