SONOMA – Deputies patrol during the night because criminals commit crimes any hour of the day. Two people tried to steal from The Rental Place early Tuesday morning, May 22.
The alert deputy called in backup, then approached the store in the 21500 block of 8th Street East.
A white Nissan Altima sat backed up into the store’s driveway. As deputies walked the fence of the property they “heard a commotion coming from a shed on the property.”
They spotted 30-year-old Vincente Valencia pulling a piece of equipment through the back fence. Then they stopped and arrested him with little fanfare.
Waiting in the vehicle, Valencia’s girlfriend, 31-year-old Michelle Castorena, met the same fate.
The item Valencia drug out? An $800 power washer.
The pair’s charges include burglary, conspiracy and possession of burglary tools.
Valencia also faces a probation violation charge “from a previous drug case.”
