SANTA ROSA – It’s a simple story and has the same two-pronged lesson. First, do not drink alcohol and drive afterward. And second, if a police car has its siren and lights on behind you, pull over.
On May 22 at 10:30 pm, a SRPD officer attempted to stop a vehicle. The car sped by near Sepbastopol Road and West Avenue.
The CRPD press release says “the driver decided to have officers pursue him.” The chase continued into downtown Santa Rosa and then onto southbound 101.
Santa Rosa PD, Petaluma PD and Sonoma Sheriffs joined in the chase. Finally, Rohnert Park resident Raymond Castro ran over spike strips and that ended his evasion.
Thankfully no injuries resulted form this chase. Castro’s charges include DUI, felony evasion of a police officer and a parole violation.
