GRIMES – The driver, recently released from incarceration on April 18, wore an ankle monitor. Certainly one would think he would obey the law. On May 23 close to 5:00 pm, law enforcement stopped him and his passenger on Highway 45 and Levin Street.
The Colusa Sheriff Department, CHP and Colusa County Task Force worked together in this operation.
35-year-old Zachary Pomfret had no license. Most noteworthy, he had a half a pound of meth.
Pomfret’s “irregular behavior in travels” is what attracted law enforcement’s attention. He “would leave the county weekly travelling main highways and interstates then return to Colusa traveling on county roads.”
Consequently, when he violated the Vehicle Code on May 23, the Task Force stopped him and made their discovery.
The passenger, 29-year-old Beatriz Cerpa, joined Pomfret in his arrest. The charges include possession, selling and transporting meth, and conspiracy.
