Ventura County – It has been a six-month investigation. in January 2018, detectives attached to the Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit developed new information. Their eyes were on 28-year-old Thousand Oaks resident Robert Rubio and his 27-year-old brother Anel Rubio. The pair engaged in the sale and transport of firearms in violation of law.
The VCIPCU shared that information with the VCSD Special Enforcement Unit.
They began looking into the Rubio’s activities and eventually learned that Robert Rubio is a felony parolee. He cannot legally possess firearms or ammunition. Additionally, Robert currently attempting to illegally purchase a firearm.
Authorities obtained search warrants for both Rubio brothers. On June 1st, SEU deputies and Directed Enforcement Units made contact with Robert in the City of Ventura.
The Unit made contact with Anel at his residence in Thousand Oaks, by detectives with search warrant in hand. As a result, that search led to the discovery of a loaded firearm “and evidence linking Robert to the firearm.”
As the cops were conducting their warrant search of Anel’s residence, they discovered Thousand Oaks residents Oliver Willis, 20, Rita Ayuso, 25, Liseth Ayala, 22, and Ashley Vargas, 31, all of whom were in possession of small amounts of heroin, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
Both Rubio brothers and Anel’s house guests were all transported to Ventura County Jail. Robert’s charges are unlawful transfer of a firearm, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and being a felon in possession of ammunition, with his bail set at $50,000.
Similarly, little brother Anel’s charge was having a firearm in a residence with a prohibited person.
Willis, Ayuso, Ayala, and Vargas all went to Ventura County Jail where to face “narcotics related charges.”
