SALINAS – A murder occurred at El Dorado Park on June 5 at 8:00 pm. Witnesses reported a suspect fleeing the scene. Ernesto Garcia Cruz died from gunshot wounds.
It wasn’t long before investigators named 19-year-old Santos Longoria Fonseca as the suspect in the shooting death.
Additionally, Fonseca already had a warrant out for an attempted robbery. Detectives set out surveillance on a home in the 1600 block of Siskiyou for 24 hours.
Investigators determined that Fonseca also killed Lorenso Gomez Acosta on June 2.
The,m on June 6 at 6:30 pm, detectives spotted the suspect in a vehicle with two other people. They stopped the vehicle and immediately arrested Fonseca.
They also arrested his girlfriend, 18-year-old Alekzandra Romayor, and a 17-year-old juvenile.
Authorities found a 9 mm handgun in the vehicle. They also later found a Glock in the Siskiyou residence.
Fonseca faces two charges of murder and one attempted robbery warrant. Romayor’s charges are murder (Cruz) and accessory to murder (Acosta).
