AGUA DULCE – The LACSD and CA DOJ seized an arsenal of 553 firearms after they received a tip and conducted an investigation.
The tip stated that a local man who is a convicted felon possessed a large arsenal of firearms. The Palmdale Sheriff’s Station led the investigation.
Authorities served the search warrant on the morning of June 14 in the 34700 block of Caprock Road.
60-year-old Manuel Fernandez had 432 guns in site. His charges are possession of firearms and being a felon in possession of firearms.
As a result, law enforcement served another warrant on another suspect in the 34900 block of Sweetwater Drive.
In addition, there they confiscated 30 more firearms. The female resident was not at home and has yet to return.
Investigations conducted a follow-up warrant at the Caprock Road residence. This time they seized an additional 91 hidden firearms.
Detectives also seized computers cellphones and hard drives.
Because of the large number of firearms recovered, detectives enlisted the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF). They hope to trace “the purchase origination of the weapons. ”
Fernandez “bonded out from the jail ward” and has a July 9 court date.
