WILLITS – A 23-year-old mother left her child in the car for 10 hours, causing the 18-month-old’s death.
Authorities are holding Alexandrea Raven Scott (aka Mays), from the coastal town of Trinidad, without bail.
On June 20 at 1:30 pm representatives from Howard Memorial Hospital called MCSO deputies about an unconscious child brought in.
Earlier that day, the child’s mother came to a home at the 2600 block of Mitomkai Way at 3:00 am. Once there. she left her child in the back of the car.
The press releases says, “Once there, Scott, who resides in Humboldt County, socialized with people while leaving her child in her car. (The car sat) parked in front of the residence with the windows rolled up. It is believed the child was left unattended in the vehicle with the windows rolled up for about 10 hours.”
Officers contacted the mother while she was at the hospital with her child. Tragically, 18-month-old Chergery Teywoh Lew Mays died, leading to her mother’s arrest. Her charges pertained to willfully permitting a child to suffer injury and death.
