BANNING – The BPD recently arrested a robbery and stabbing suspect.
On Friday afternoon June 8 someone stabbed a 30-year-old male on the 1300 block of West Ramsey Street. The victim suffered from several stab wounds. However, the wounds were not life-threatening.
Officers learned that the stabbing actually occurred at another location. Witnesses led them to that other location. On the 1100 block of West Cottonwood Road officers “located evidence showing the stabbing occurred” there.
Additional witnesses told detectives the suspects name – 20-year-old Steven Martinez. They discovered that a physical altercation led to the stabbing.
Also, Martinez had a part in a robbery two weeks prior to the stabbing. He had robbed the same individual that he then, in this incident, stabbed.
A citizen’s call on June 13 revealed Martinez’s current location. Investigators arrested the suspect on the 1800 block of West Ramsey Street. They also located the property that Martinez took from the robbery victim.
The charges Martinez faces in this case are attempted murder, armed robbery and possession of stolen property.
