CHICO – On July 2 near 5:00 pm in the Big Lots parking lot, a stranger attacked a woman. She reported that she did not know her attacker beforehand.
32-year-old Kyle Reeder rode past the woman on his bicycle as she walked towards Big Lots.
Reeder “began to target her with verbal obscenities.” As the encounter escalated, the woman began filming Reeder. He then “swung a heavy bike lock chain at the victim.”
The attacker hit the woman in the stomach and head. Bystanders then approached him and he left the scene.
15 minutes later, a call came in about a disturbance in the Costco parking lot. It was Reeder again, and this time officers arrested him.
His obvious charge is assault with a deadly weapon.
