SHASTA – The SCSO had an interestingly dramatic day on July 6 that included burglary, gunshots, a chase and three arrests.
It started with a burglary in progress after 5:00 am on the 15000 block of Cloverdale Road. The same residence experienced a burglary earlier that week.
Responding deputies heard gunshots and encountered a dark colored Ford truck quickly going the other way. They then pursued the fleeing vehicle through various roads until it crashed and the driver fled on foot.
They set up a perimeter but the driver escaped. However, SCSO said “we located evidence in the truck linking Kayla Lane and Troy Heller to the burglary.”
Back at the initial scene, the victim filled in some details. He said that he saw three people (two males and a female) on his property. One man jumped in a truck and drove it toward him.
The victim fired at the approaching vehicle in self-defense. Deputies located 44-year-old Rodrigo Gonzalez Garcia in the area and arrested him. Then they located 33-year-old Millville resident Kayla Lane walking on the road and also arrested her.
The victim identified this duo as two of the people he saw on his property.
Lane’s charges – attempted burglary, conspiracy, vehicle theft, probation violation and trespassing.
Gonzalez Garcia’s charges – attempted burglary, vehicle theft, assault , conspiracy and trespassing.
What about that truck driver? at 3:00 pm later that day, 51-year-old Troy Heller tried to report his mother’s Ford truck as stolen. Responding deputies then heard Heller “admit to his involvement in the burglary and pursuit.”
Heller’s charges – assault with a deadly weapon, evading, conspiracy, vehicle theft, attempted burglary and trespassing. The SCSO released no information concerning bail amounts
