AUBURN – It started when a deputy saw three people flee when they saw him on Friday afternoon.
In the Auburn Greens area the deputy came upon a man walking up to a car containing two others. The man ran and the car sped away.
The driver of the fleeing car ran a stop sign, and a red light on Highway 49. The car reached 90 mph at times.
Deployed spike strips disabled the car. The driver jumped out but ended running behind the Safeway. The car contained stolen property, including a boat motor ice chests.
Stolen property found in the car included a boat motor, expensive ice chests, and other items.
The care itself was also stolen. Police identified the driver as 47-year-old Jeffrey Todd Fisher. His passenger was 25-year-old Kyle James Webber.
Fisher’s charges are vehicle theft, receiving stolen property, felony evading, conspiracy and two warrants. His bail is $225,000.
Webber’s charges are receiving stolen property, conspiracy, burglary tools and a warrant. His bail is $115,000.
