POMONA – Active leads obtained by the PPD helped secure an arrest in a recent stabbing.
Police immediately responded to a call on June 30th at about 12:30 PM regarding a severely-stabbed man lying in a rear alley at Holt Avenue and Rebecca Street. They encountered a male Hispanic in his forties suffering from multiple stab wounds.
LA County Fire Department transported the unresponsive Alejandro Lopez (40) of Pomona to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
Subsequently, Homicide detectives investigated active leads throughout the afternoon and into the next week. They observed a person of interest in the area of 1400 East Holt Avenue at approximately 9:45 AM on July 10th.
Pomona PD’s Special Investigation Unit orchestrated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Patrol Division officers positively ID’d and detained the driver as a suspect in the homicide.
