WILLITS – On July 2 someone shot a father and son in their truck and the dad died. The son initially survived but later succumbed to his injuries as well.
Around 4:30 pm detectives received a call about “a suspicious situation” near mile post marker 25 on North Highway 101. This area is located south of Golden Rule.
Inside the 2001 Chevy Silverado 51-year-old Calixto Ramirez lay dead from gunshot wounds. His 30-year-old son Miguel also had gunshot wounds. He died 8 days later.
During the investigation detectives identified 23-year-old Ubaldo Ramirez as the shooter. He is the son and brother of the victims.
Law enforcement located Ubaldo during the night, around 1:30 am on July 3, in a parking lot. The arrest occurred in the 77800 block of Highway 182 in Covelo, “thanks to assistance from the public.”
Ubaldo Ramirez now has two counts of homicide and a $1.6 million bail.
