FORT BRAGG – A concerned citizen’s call brought the MCSD to a vacant house where they discovered a transient holed up.

On July 17 the citizen called after spotting an Isuzu Rodeo driving around. As a result, the citizen suspected the driver may be “trespassing at a vacant residence.”

Deputies arrived at the 30000 block of North Highway 1 to inspect the residence. As they drove down the driveway they noticed the Rodeo.  They then searched the inside of the residence.

35-year-old Garrick Edward Hornlein hid in the garage. He was on felony probation for burglary out of San Joaquin County. He also has a felony warrant out.

Hornlein possessed a handgun, ammunition, 2 sets of nunchucks, a chainsaw, narcotics and paraphernalia.

His charges include burglary, probation violation, possession of nunchucks, possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia and felon possessing a gun. Consequently, he has no bail set.
