WEAVERVILLE – A “suspicious vehicle” attracted a deputy’s attention on July 30. It drove in and out of multiple driveways on Center Street in the early morning.
In the recent past the area experienced looting and “multiple activated alarms.”
An attempted traffic stop led to a pursuit that ended on North Street. The driver of the evading vehicle hit a fence and then got out and ran.
And, as these stories usually end, the deputy caught the driver and arrested him.
The evading vehicle held $2,133, 1.3 pounds of meth, scales and small plastic bags.
46-year-old Francis Desmond faces the following charges –
- possession of a controlled substance for sale;
- transportation of a controlled substance for sale;
- evading a police officer;
- driving on a suspended license.
Desmond was already out on bail for possession of meth in Shasta County.
