SHASTA LAKE – Yet another evacuated home in Shasta experienced an unfortunate burglary recently. On August 12 a resident called deputies from the 1800 block of Parallel Street.
The resident evacuated her home for two weeks due to the fire evacuation order. When she returned she discovered that her home had been burglarized. $6,000 worth of property was missing.
These items included food, clothing, bedding, power tools, shop vacuum and jewelry.
Deputies began investigating leads which eventually led them to a suspect named “Domenic.” Further investigation put a last name on the suspect – Newhouse.
Next, investigators determined that Domenic Newhouse was homeless and frequenting the greenbelt property near Elizabeth Avenue.
Then detectives found the suspect and, while talking to him, saw some of the stolen property. During their consented search they found meth, a meth pipe and a syringe containing heroin.
The victim came to the camping location to successfully identify her belongings.
Newhouse admitted to the crime and faces a charge of 1st degree residential burglary.
