LOS ANGELES – Former Hermosa Beach police officer Todd A. Lewitt (3/4/67) faces a possible maximum sentence of four years in state prison. Authorities charged the Long Beach man yesterday for meeting a minor for lewd purposes.
The L.A. District Attorney announced the felony count and charge for attempting to meet someone he believed was a 16-year-old girl for sex.
The facts of the case include Lewitt’s July 26th alleged contact on a dating website with a supposed 16-year-old girl. The “girl” was really an undercover deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Human Trafficking Bureau.
Subsequently, Prosecutor Deputy DA Angela Brunson of the Cyber Crime Division reported, “The defendant allegedly arranged to meet the girl in order to have sexual intercourse. Officers arrested Lewitt when he arrived at the agreed-upon meeting location in East Los Angeles.”
As a result, prosecution recommended a bail of $75,000.
LASD’s Human Trafficking Bureau continues to investigate the case.
