MADERA – MPD announced the recent arrest of an intoxicated man who lit a lawn on fire.
Imagine waking up at 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. to the sounds of fire truck sirens. You look out the window and realize that it is your property that’s on fire.

26-year old Harman Preet Singh made this possible for residents of a home on the 1100 block of Monterey Street in Madera.
Surveillance cameras caught Singh lighting the front side yard on fire. Also, it was evident that he set the fire intentionally.
Singh backtracked to the residence as firefighters watered down the lawn. When Madera Police officers detained him not too far from the home, Singh could not explain his action. He was obviously intoxicated.
Consequently, Singh is currently at the Madera County Department of Corrections. He is charged with arson and his bail is set at $50,000.
No one was injured during this incident and the fire was contained before reaching the home’s structure.
