Folsom Illegal Grow Site Discovered by High Electrical Usage

FOLSOM – Detectives raided an illegal grow house in Folsom on Saturday.

Detectives arrested three suspects on Saturday morning on the 700 block of Winscombe Court. They obtained a search warrant on the suspicion of an illegal marijuana growing operation.

One thing that piqued their curiosity was that the site used “20 times the  electricity of a normal home.”

In addition, they discovered that “the electricity was being bypassed around the SMUD meter.”

Finally, “the electrical modifications to the home were not in compliance with electrical building codes.”

The suspects  arrested are – Tao Zheng, 27, Guoye Jiang, 33, and Guomin Jiang, 31, all of Folsom.

As a result, detectives discovered 528 marijuana plants and 5 pounds of dried marijuana.

Their charges include “cultivation of marijuana and theft of utility services.”
