LAFAYETTE — Police arrested a man for kidnapping a woman earlier this week. Luckily, the victim escaped and ran away, but two other suspects involved in her kidnapping remain at large.
The woman’s kidnapping occurred on September 4. She was walking along the 3500 block of Mount Diablo Boulevard, towards the Lafayette BART Station. Her ordeal began shortly before 4:30 a.m., according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.
A dark-colored sedan carrying masked men inside pulled up alongside the woman. A man got out of the car and suddenly grabbed the woman. He attempted to drag her inside the car. However, she was able to break free and screamed for help.
Her assailants gave up. The man got back into the sedan and they drove away, leaving behind the terrified woman. Lafayette police officers arrived to the scene of the foiled kidnapping, and they spearheaded an investigation with other law enforcement agencies.
On the following morning, Pittsburg police officers stopped a vehicle at 4:20 a.m., carrying Jordan A. Wilson, a 19-year-old resident of Pittsburg.
He was detained on suspicion of being one of the kidnappers. Pittsburg police arrested Wilson on September 5. Subsequently, Wilson was turned over to Lafayette police who questioned him, before he was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility.
Wilson remains in custody in lieu of $200,000 bail. His charges are kidnapping and conspiracy to commit a crime.
As a result, Lafayette detectives continue an ongoing investigation of this incident, and seeking two other suspect.
Certainly, authorities are seeking the public’s help for solving this crime. Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious can call Lafayette Sgt. Tom Rossberg at 925-299-3234.
