HOLLISTER – HPD officers arrested three people acting as obstructors at an accident on August 26 at 9:38 p.m.
The accident occurred on Nash Road near Prune Street. An officer arrived to aid the victim.
Then “several uninvolved people walked” up the scene. The trio became aggressive towards the officer. Some of them gave indication of being intoxicated.
The trio were family members of the driver in the accident. They had all been attending a party nearby.
Two more HPD officers arrived to help. However, there were a lot more civilians in the area, arguing with and hindering the officers.
Police warned Ernesto Alvarez Jr. and Gilbert Arturo Lozoya-Sanchez to back off at the risk of arrest.
8 or 9 other people came out and stopped traffic. The entire group refused to comply with officers, or to get out of the road.
As a result of his actions, police tried to arrest Alvarez. He resisted and fought back. Then Jacqueline Valdez stepped in to try and stop officers. She hit an officer in the back of the head.
Lozoya-Sanchez also resisted arrest. Other uncooperative family members also obstructed, “pulling and tugging” on the officer’s uniforms.
Police arrested the three named suspects –
- Ernesto Alvarez, obstructing and resisting arrest;
- Gilbert Lozoya, battery of an officer and obstruction;
- Jacqueline Valez, battery on an officer and obstruction.
The SBCSD and CHP also assisted in this incident.
