APTOS – In May and June a gas theft siphoner made his way around several county locations. He included Cabrillo College as one of his targeted areas.
Surveillance cameras captured a black GMC Yukon at the thefts at Cabrillo College.
On July 9, the suspect siphoned several gas tanks and drilled into one, causing $2,400 in damage.
The same sort of thing happened on July 27. A surveillance camera captured a black Yukon in the area of where the suspect drilled another vehicle’s gas tank. This occurred at 1000 Emeline Avenue.
At 10:00 a.m,. that day an officer spotted and stopped the black Yukon at 41st Avenue and Soquel Drive. The Yukon held drilling equipment, siphoning equipment, several gas tanks and smelled of gas.
Therefore, Michael Harrington now faces vehicle burglary charges.
“The Sheriff’s Office and Watsonville Police are working together to gather additional evidence linking Harrington to the numerous cases of gas thefts and vandalism over the last month and a half.
