CHICO – The shoplifter declared, “Call the cops because I’m not paying for this” as he walked out. He walked out with an unpaid bottle of beer.
It was 11:00 a.m. on September 12 at the Liquor Bank at 915 Main Street.
Therefore, the clerk called the cops, who quickly came out to meet the thief, 43-year-old William Emis.
They met him near the Jesus Center where he just finished drinking his pilfered beer.
The clerk identified Emis as the suspect, who thought he would be cited and released, misdemeanor and all.
Instead, he went to the Butte County Jail. He must have wanted a beer real bad.
