SAN LEANDRO – A man has turned himself in to police for murdering his ex-girlfriend from high school. The corpse of Mariah Davis was found five days after she was last seen alive, leaving a restaurant with her former sweetheart on September 26.
The victim’s former boyfriend, 19 year old Anthony Pimentel, walked into the San Leandro police station on October 1 at about 3:30 a.m. accompanied by his father. Pimentel then confessed to murdering his former high school sweetheart. He also told police where to find her body.
Several hours later, San Leandro police located the body of Richmond resident 18-year-old Mariah Davis. Mariah’s body was found near Chabot Dam on the property of the East Bay Municipal Utility District.
Shortly afterward, San Leandro police turned this murder case over to the East Bay Regional Park Police, since it has jurisdiction. However, San Leandro police continue to assist park police in this case.
Investigators determined Davis left La Pinata restaurant, 2699 Merced Street in San Leandro, with Pimentel on September 26. Surveillance cameras at the restaurant recorded Davis and Pimentel leaving together.
However, Davis’ car was later found abandoned in San Leandro. Her keys left inside, but she was nowhere in sight.
After the victim’s body was located, Pimentel was arrested and booked at Santa Rita Jail on October 1. Pimentel remains in custody with bail denied, pending his arraignment on October 3.
Pimentel now faces charges for first degree murder. He has previously been arrested for making threats of violence at a school.
