SANTA CRUZ – The SCPD made two burglary arrests on the same night of September 17.
The first arrest occurred after 7:00 p.m. when officers responded to a burglary in progress in the 500 block of Market Street. The call came from a passing motorist who spotted “a suspicious male standing by a window outside a home.”
In addition, the driver noticed a screwdriver in the suspect’s hand as he stood next to a broken window.
Then the homeowner also came into the picture, and the suspect threatened them. The SCPD quickly set up a perimeter and soon arrested 42-year-old transient Alejandro Rodriguez. The arrest occurred near Goss and North Branciforte Avenues.
Rodriguez’s charges are assault and burglary.
Two hours later a similar incident occurred when “officers responded to a subject attempting to break into a commercial building.” this incident occurred on the 1100 block of Ocean Street.
Officer’s arrested another transient – 27-year-old Alexander Torres. He was already on probation for burglary tools and other crimes.
