SJPD Arrests Volleyball Coach for Annoying/Molesting a Child, Sexual Battery

SAN JOSE  – The SJPD announced the arrest of a 24-year-old volleyball coach who was touching teens inappropriately. The crimes occurred during volleyball practice and games at Independence High School.  Furthermore, investigators identified three victims as being under the age of 17.
According to SJPD Sergeant Enrique Garcia, “The San Jose Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force / Child Exploitation Detail (CED) arrested suspect Peter Samonte for Annoying or Molesting a Child under 18 years of age and Sexual Battery.”
On October 3, 2018, Independence High School staff contacted the SJPD whom immediately took action against Samonte. Reports of the offense detailed how Samonte had inappropriately touched multiple male victims between January 2017 and October 2018.
SJPD investigators took Samonte into custody on October 3, 2018. He was was subsequently booked into Santa Clara County Jail on three counts of Annoying or Molesting a Child under 18 years of age (misdemeanor) and three counts of Sexual Battery (misdemeanor).
