SAN JOSE – The SJPD announced the arrest of a sexual assault suspect who targeted a young teen at a local church. According to Police, “On Sunday, October 14, 2018, at about 6:30 PM, a violent sexual assault occurred behind a church located in the 2700 block of S. King Road in San Jose.”
20-year-old Esteban Mosqueda lured a 17-year-old female to a secluded area, then beat and raped her. The San Jose Police Departments Sexual Assault Unit worked tirelessly to identify the suspect. Once identified, they issued a warrant for his arrest. Subsequently, on October 17, the SJPD’s Covert Response Unit located and arrested Mosqueda at a residence in San Jose.
Law enforcement booked Mosqueda into the Santa Clara County Jail for -\
- penetration with a foreign object – 289 PC (felony);
- assault with a deadly weapon – 245 PC (felony);
- false imprisonment – 236 PC (felony);
- and sexual battery – 243.4 PC (felony).
“I want to commend our survivor for her strength through this ordeal,” Chief Eddie Garcia said. “I also wish to laud the amazing work of our detectives. They tirelessly followed up leads and used amazing police instincts to identify and take a violent predator off our streets.”
