PLACERVILLE – Early in the morning of October 10 a hit-and-run occurred on Missouri Flat Road and Halyard Lane.
The pedestrian, 87-year-old Diamond Springs resident Gottfried Brunner, suffered major injuries from the collision. The offending vehicle left the scene.
One person witnessed the crime and described a dark sedan, whose driver did not apply the brakes or stop after the collision. Both the witness and a CHP tow driver attempted to aid the victim. Then arriving medics also offered aid, but the victim died at the scene.
Investigators determined that the vehicle hit Brunner on its right front side. The press release states that “some pieces of the vehicle were left behind.”
Based on this evidence, investigators determined that it was a 2011 or newer silver Dodge Caravan.
Later that same day law enforcement identified Ricardo Rosas as the offending driver and arrested and booked him. His charges include hit and run involving injury or death.
Investigators impounded Rosas’ Dodge for evidence. In addition, they do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a part in this tragedy.
